Panel Discussion - Reskilling of Developers for HPC & AI
The lines between High Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence are blurring with advances in compute , storage and networking. As a developer it means adopting to new ideas , new concepts and better tools to solve a complex problem. The reskilling of the developer to be more effective is a global need. The panel will detail out the challenges developers need to handle in these domains. It will also touch on the changes over last few years on developer expectations on learning new tool sets , methodologies and role of communities. The Panel will bring in different perspectives from HPC research , AI solutions and system integration fields. The takeaway from this panel will help developers to acquire relevant skills in the HPC/ AI domain and be more effective and productive in their careers.

Dr. Sunil Sherlekar
Sunil Sherlekar is the CEO of SankhyaSutra Labs Ltd. From Sept. 2010 to April 2015.
Dr Sherlekar was the Director of Parallel Computing Research at Intel Labs in Bangalore. Earlier he was the Founder & Head of Research at Tata Computational Research Labs in Pune (2006-2010), the Head of Embedded Systems R&D at Tata Consultancy Services (2002-2006), the CTO at Sasken Communication Technologies (1992-2002) and on the faculty of Computer Science & Engg. at IIT Bombay (1982-1992).

Shrirang Karandikar
Shrirang (Arvind) Karandikar received his B.E. (E&T/C) from the University of Pune, M.S. (EE) from Clarkson University and PhD (Electrical Engineering with minors in Mathematics and Computer Science) from the University of Minnesota. He has worked in the areas of VLSI Design Automation (Intel, IBM Research), High Performance Computing (CRL) and Digitalization (Shell Technology Centre), and has numerous patents and publications in these areas. He is currently the founder of AlgoAsylum, which provides consulting services in these areas.
Sanjay Wandhekar
Mr Sanjay Wandhekar is Senior Director at C-DAC and heading the HPC Technologies group. He and his team are spearheading the establishment of supercomputing facilities in various institutes across the country over the last 5+ years.
Sanjay is currently heading the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) activities which include Establishment of Supercomputing facilities and ecosystem development in the country and development of critical HPC technologies like compute servers, high speed HPC interconnect and system software stack. Till date more than 15 PF of compute power has been established under NSM. He and his team has received Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam HPC award for their contribution to Supercomputing ecosystem in the country.
Sachin Kelkar
Sachin Kelkar leads a cross functional team in Asia Pacific region focused on dev marketing, Key software partnerships and Academia. In this role, he focuses on developing the software solutions ecosystem across Asia Pacific region by working with key software companies, Academic Institutes and software developers. His team is also responsible for the oneAPI Academic Engagements in Asia Pacific region and is working with key universities in India and other countries to facilitate oneAPI software which covers HPC, AI and Media tools engagements on Intel architecture including curriculum development and research. His team in Asia business relationships and developer engagements with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), System Integrators and student developers in the region across consumer and enterprise segments. In his previous roles, he has engaged with developers in the area of Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and Game development. Sachin has worked with Intel for 18+ years in the areas of developer engagement, software marketing and solutions engineering. He has worked on key projects on IoT Enabling, local language enabling, mobile application development and partner marketing. He has been working with startup ecosystem for last few years and has associated with many startups as mentor. Prior to Intel, Sachin has worked in Microsoft and Citrix and has an experience of @ 20+ years in the software and telecom industry. Sachin earned his bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering from Shivaji University in 1992, followed by a Masters’ degree in Management from Mumbai University.
